Is there any reason why there isn't a thread 'Where am I in NorCal' or is there just not enough members up here. I mean,,, this is the better part of the State.

I thought you lived in Artichokeville. Is your CA map on the fritz Fritz? Better look at it again, Artichokeville is not in NorCal, it's in CenCal. NorCal is north of Baghdad by the Bay.
OK OK. Yes, you know I'm in Artichokevill - central cal. I just ment pics being posted up this way. I think someone posted "no pics north of ?" can't remember but it stops way down south.
AND we all know the more beautiful part of Calif is up this way. All you guys have down there is traffic....... ... Ok, give me your best shot.....

Traffic? You want traffic, you already have traffic, scads of it. When was the last time you drove in Baghdad by the Bay?
Driving south on Columbus Avenue after leaving Fisherman's Wharf, it took me two hours just to reach the Ferry Building. I shoulda taken a detour over to the Castro district, lotta ferry buildings there.
The water temp in Artichokeville is so frigid, it's only suitable for otters, cuz they have a fur coat. Here in LA LA Land, the water is sooo warm, otters remove their fur coats and go skinny dipping.
You know what Gov. Reagan once said about redwood trees, doncha? "If you've seen one redwood tree, you've seen them all."
We've a coupla redwood trees here in LA LA Land, so there is no need to whiz up to the fog shrouded freezing central coast to see one.

Now that is strictly true city driving which you don't have in La La land. Two hours! Was that around 5:00pm on the Saturday after the Blue Angels flew? Or was that the day of the Italian-American appreciation day? I lived in The City for 10 years and could get anywhere in 30 minutes. Of course, I had the innate knowledge of how to travel and where to avoid on a given day.
You know those country boys, down south, can't handle a real city. I have lived in LA, SD and SF with SF the only real city of the three.

Ok, where or what is Articokevill? I'm in Oregon, but lived in the East bay in the 60's

Herb Caen would be horrified if he had to drive in TheCity today. Caen coined that term, as you are probably aware.
It was a weekday, "She who must be obeyed" and I were vacationing in The City. We usually stay at the high rise Holiday Inn on Van Ness, across from the original auto row.
Once when we were there, a building across the street was being razed. A sign appeared from a long hybridnation on the next building: "Here now, the new King Motor Car." King debuted in 1911, vanished after 1923.
I actually live in Watsonville which is about 10-15 min. north of Castroville. Castroville is known as the artichoke capital of the world. All they grow is artichokes and ship them out everywhere. That area has been called Artichokeville. Watsonville/Castroville is south of Santa Cruz and north of Monterey. Just next to Castroville is Moss Landing Power Plant and Commercial fishing docks. Moss Landing also has 9 Salvage yards all next to each other. Talk about a fun day of playing... Bill knows about those yards - don't ya Bill ?

You betcha, my first trip to the yard with the boxcars, found a complete '37 Packard radio, that once it was sold, paid for the entire scrounging trip.
