What's the best and easiest to install hitch for the FRONT of a 2002 Super Duty?
I want to install an ice chest/surf rod rack via a front hitch receiver.
Thank you.
Mick
On my '00 I have a front receiver made by Warn for my multi-mount winch. It is a standard 2" receiver so I dont know why it would not work with other things too. It bolts right to the frame and exits right under the front bumper.
Yeah, the one dealer I spoke with carries Hidden Hitch and said that one was available, but he advised that my fog lights would have to go (permanently) and the front bumper would have to come off in order to install it.
He was willing to sell me the product but would not put it on for any price.
I still don't know why you could not use the Warn receiver. I realize that my '00 does not have fog lamps, but they are situated next to the factory tow hooks right? The receiver comes nowhere near them. It actually fits completely under the front bumper. On my truck, with the winch out of the receiver, it is barely noticable under the bumper unless you really pay attention. I installed the receiver myself in about 15 minutes and did not have to remove anything to do it, especially not the bumper.
Check out the warn trans4mer systen. I had one on my last truck(F150) . Used it to lanch the boat on tight ramps it helped a lot. You do have to remove the bumper but it is not hard with some one to help . do not know if it would block the fog lights . It is one of the mods I plain for my SD. Good Luck Rick
