Here is what I found on the passengers side up pipe. Think this could be my only issue? If so should I just go ahead and replace the up pipes with the flange type or just have this repaired? If so any recommendations on a brand of up pipes?
That looks pretty substantial. Most will tell you to replace them with bellowed pipes. Not sure what is completely involved with just fixing whats there. Can be as little as a new stud to tighten it back up or a new donut and stuff.
The cheapest thing you can do is go to the local parts store and ask for (2) Felpro 8194 gaskets. When they ask what they go on, just say you don't know. You just know the part number. They can look it up that way. The felpro donuts are a tad bit oversized, which is a good thing.
If you want to spend a little more money, you can get new up pipes from Ford or International. If you want to spend a lot more money, you can get the bellowed up pipes made by international. Several site sponsors sell them. There's a write up on guzzle's site (he's one of the sponsors that sells them by the way) that has a step by step on how to change them.
Ya, I looked at the international pipes, are whey worth $450 or should I just have the up pipe fixed and get a ATS ported compressor housing? If I have to tear it all down I just as well do it once and put some goodies in there to. Anything else mod wise I should while its tore down?

I'd say the upipes leaking is a good part of what is causing the surging on your truck Fix that, then visit the possibility of the Wicked Wheel or the ATS housing.
I would definitely get International's bellowed uppies though, they are worth the money since you'll probably never have to worry about it again.
I talked with the local shop that all ford guys recommend and they said since ford made some changes to the up pipes they dont see no where near the issues anymore with the gaskets. So I am just going to have the pipes replaced with OEMs and gaskets. So the wheel or ATS may just be a waste then after pipes are fixed?

I don't think Ford made any changes to the up pipes. International (who makes the 7.3L PSD) is the one who came out with the bellowed up pipes to correct the design flaw. I could be wrong though, Ford very well may have come out with their own bellowed design after International did a few years ago.
Either way, the dealership is gonna charge you a ton of money to do the work. If you have any wrenching skills at all, or if you live close to another 7.3L forum member part of The Brotherhood, buy the uppies yourself and do your own work. Not only will you save a grip of money, but you'll learn a lot about your truck too.

The 6.0 has the bellowed type, so that's when Ford changed things (because International did). No changes that I know of were made to the 7.3 pipes until International started to offer the bellowed kit.

Thanks for the specificity, Chris. Since we were talking about the 7.3L, my comment was not meant to include the 6.0 or later PSD's.
