Silly oil filter question

Silly oil filter question
I have a 74 F250 with a 390 that I just got running after purchasing it last week. From the top of the oil filter housing there is a small hose that is not connected to anything and shoots out oil when its running. What is this and where does it go? I am a newbie to working on trucks (normally I work on shovelheads) so be easy on me
