Question about impact fitting

Hey all,

Just bought my first new impact. I've bought a few used ones, and they always had the fitting in them already. Sold the old one and now I have no idea what size I need. I know its a 1/4NPT into the gun, but what about the quick disconnect side? Summit's website has all these crazy letters and stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated, save me from embarrassment come wednesday.

Dan

Just from looking at the hardware store years ago (OSH in California) I found several types. Some longer than the others. This site shows three, two of which look familiar:

Air Hose Fittings and Accessories: Central States Hose, Inc. 2009

I take it you have fittings on your hoses? Best take one with you when you go shopping to make sure you get the right one.

More, with several types pictured:

Complete overload:

You do want to go to a local place and look around. x2 on the take a sample with you if you have one.

They're pretty cheap, so if there are a couple of options, you could just get both and see which one worked.

I used teflon tape when I screwed mine into the impact -- seems to work pretty well.

Here's something I've done that's useful since I travel to different shops where their air fittings might be different:

This gives me lots of flexibility and never scrambling to hook up to an air supply.

JWA I like that idea! Cept its kinda long for those tight spaces. Still a good idea though!
