I pulled my plugs on my 83' Ranger /w the 2.3 in it. I noticed a lot of carbon build up and a bright orange color on the cumbustion area of the plugs. I dont know if its additives from the gas or what. Any ideas?
Also, is there any block stamping or etc that would indicate when the engine was made?
In the book there are two different heat ranges depending if it is a early 83' or later 83'. Different heads I take it. It has since been repainted and the door stickers were painted over, they were unreadable anyway. It's had a mis when at idle when I start it cold and I can't locate it. I want to make sure I've got the right heat range plug in but don't know which one I need.
I've played with wires, cap&roter, pugs and gapping but it still wants to put-sputter lightly for at least five minutes until it warms up a little.
Once I get the heat range thing figured out, I think I'm going to tackle the carb next. its damp with gas towards the base of the carb.
Does anyone know of a after market Holley that will bolt up. i hate the one thats on there. Its a PITA!!
