I got tired of looking through the bubbles and lines in my Autozone tint, and since the yellow truck had been very well behaved recently, I decided to have the windows professionally tinted.
Initially, I had tinted them up with the rolls available at Autozone. I didn't really like the limo black that the Previous Owner had installed, so pulled that off and installed 30% on the sides and back. Yes, black is cool, but my old and tired eyeballs just don't see all that well at night any more...
Anyway, the brown truck still has the Autozone 30% - I took pictures showing both trucks so as to display the contrast. The yellow truck has 35% on the sides and 5% on the back. Again, it's so bright here in the desert that the ratings can be deceptive - the tint is really darker than it might look:
That looks great, PapaBear! Tinted windows sure help the A/C keep up down south where it gets really hot.
I'm going to have to re-tint the windows on my Crew Cab soon. It's been years since I messed with this stuff. Can anybody remind me of the trick to getting the old glue off the glass? I'm thinking vinegar, but I'm probably wrong.
ammonia solution to remove the glue works real well. just keep it wet and scrape it with a razor ... stainless steel razor blade if you can find them.
i want to tint mine in the worst way, but i use it to back trailers into the shed quite often, the dark windows are counter productive for that type of thing ... so i'm on the fence.
