1996 f 150 slight miss and rough idle
I wish I could help you out man but this one has me scratching my head. Keep at it though you will find the problem, and when you do be sure to let the rest of us know what it was so when/if it happens to someone else we can spread the word.
Also if you get to the point where you think you can't fix it or you want to give up remember the words a wise mechanic once told me "everything can be fixed, but some times it is the way we go about solving the problem that has to be fixed."

i just want to push her in the damn indian river!!!!
gentle shake at idle, with intermittent shimmy, around 8 mpg, (COSTING ME A SMALL FORTUNE
), hesitation at accellerationn temp guage around the n-o in normal. etc. well, i would say it is break time.

okay, i got fed up with the truck, and decided to try something. i advanced all the spark plug wires by one on the destributor cap. turned the engine over a few times (of course it wouldn't start), and put them all back where they belong. well sh** the bed! the long term fuel trim went back to normal at 0, and the short term were in the low 0 range too. a big improvement there. my idle is about 75% smoother, and my gas mileage went from around 8, to arou 11-12.
crazy right? i think the pistons hit there compression stroke as the intake valves were open or openning, and it sent pressure through the fuel injectors clearing them of crap. what do you guys think?

You was wondering about your ECT. Here is a little reading material. http://www.oldfuelinjection.com/?p=28. Might want to change the thermostat the ecm dosen't change to open loop operation untill 180° so you will need a 195° thermostat.
I had a rough idle problem on my 88 F150 300would start up fine until it idled down to normal then idle up and down then die but start right back then do the same thing ran code got 34 EGR valve, replaced it but didnt help some one told me to put the old one back on and make a restrictor plate between the EGR valve and intake with a smaller hole for the gasses to go through because it was running too lean. I made one out of a thin peace of metal using the gasket as a template restricted the hole to 3/8 it runs like new
Did you ever figure it out??
My truck is having a very similar issue, a slightly rough idle only after warm and in gear. It gets worse the longer and harder you drive it. With my window down i can almost hear an electrical snap or a tick followed by a shake. The fuel trim is like 10-15% at times and gas isnt really cheap right now. 96 f150 302
