2,600 Miles in a few days, Ran great, one minor issue.
Hello,
I just bought my F350 with the 6.0 a couple of months ago. It has 140K on it. Everything is stock.
My wife, 2 girls, and I took a brief road trip from Wisconsin to Colorado to visit family.
We took the F350, since it gets better fuel mileage than the Jeep Commander....
I drove it straight there over night (About 15 hours.) We made one over night stop on the way back. Truck ran great the whole way there and back.
On two occasions, however, while accelerating from a stop it "chugged" and "stumbled" and blew smoke out of the tailpipe. I let off the gas, and then laid into it again. It seemed to be fine after that. Fuel filters?
Any ideas as to what this might be?
Thanks,

I agree with Tyler. Check for codes and clean the EGR valve, also if you don't know when the last time fuel filters were changed it would be a good idea to do that now as well. Could be a few things here, but I think the Above is a great place to start. Even if it's not the problem it's still good preventive maintance.

Wow April was a busy month.
I only drove the truck about 100 miles this month. Up until yesterday, it was running like crap. Pretty much any time you would put your foot into it, it would chug and belch bluish smoke.
I pulled the EGR valve yesterday and noted some crud on it, but it didn't look that bad. I used a screw driver to open it up. It sure was stuck! I worked it back and forth a few times and it seemed to loosen up a bit.
While I held it open with a screw driver, I figured I may as well get it as clean as I could. I hit it with my walnut shell media blaster. It took all the gunk off in a few seconds.
I figured that if I ruined it, so be it, it wasn't working right anyway.
I then followed up with some cleaner and made sure to get any traces of walnut out.
I then put a little zoom spout on the valve and put it back in. Wow! It really seems like the truck has twice the power as before (is this just my imagination, or is this legitimate?)
Also, no more smoking whatsoever.
Thanks again for your help, I greatly appreciate it.
