53 wiring

OK I know where this horse shoe plate goes, but I don't know it's purpose. Would some body please tell me?

Honestly JackUS2, I have no clue.
However, I did take the liberty to browse your photos and I would like to say thank you for showing yourself, thus allowing some of us (Me) to put a face to the ride - so to speak.
Second, your 351w looks beautiful! I can tell your wife of 42 years has surely spent time on it. That's meant as a compliment.
What are your plans for pipes & mufflers?
Paul

Thanks for the compliment. I'll have stock pipe and mufflers. The wife and I will be doing a lot of traveling in it, so I want it quite. I checked out your 56. Looking great. Have you done any wiring on it yet?

It's the plate that goes behind the wiring harness. What is its purpose?

Nice gallery. Your truck is coming along nicely. As for the plate I used a EZwire kit and it didn't have a plate. Sorry

no idea, something for scale (ruler, coin?) or measurement would help. What makes you think it belongs to the wiring? If you know where it goes, that info would help us since it could go anywhere from just looking at it, it's a pretty generic looking part.
A wild guess wiring related: a spacer for the fuse block for wire clearance between the block and the mounting surface?

It came with the kit. I didn't use it before. The only reason I'm asking is I thought it might be important. I guess not. Thanks for all the comments.

Does it match the back of the fuse block? Are there wires on the back of the block? I go with my first guess a spacer for room for the wires to come out from behind the block. If you don't need the clearance don't use it.

Yes it has the same mounting holes. I'm inclined to agree with you. So I won't worry about what it does but just go on with the install.
Thanks
