embarrassing question, 302 build

So, total rookie mistake.....I am rebuilding a 302 for my F150. First full build actually.

Machined block
New crank
New Pistons
New Rings
New connecting rod bearings and main Bearings.
Re-using connecting rods and caps/stock ford

So, um, yeah after reading 1-4 on the right bank and 5-8 on the left like 100 times....i Felt it would be a good idea to do the opposite.......1-4 on the left bank, and 5-8 on the right.....

It turns fine, all bearing clearances checked with plastigage (spot on)
side clearances perfect....

so the question is.......Do I need to take it all out and re-do it?

thanks......let the ridicule begin

Haha! I'm laughing cuz I just did that myself on a 5.0 build. Mine would barely turn though. I'd pull them out and swap them for sure. Will take alot less time now vice having it break something 50 miles down the road on a fresh engine!

Redo what? From your post I'm not seeing what you think you did wrong.

Yea as Conanski pointed out.

Number one piston is front left side, not the right front cylinder. yes as pointed out, as viewed when standing in front of truck/motor (sitting in drivers seat the opposite would apply)

So if you installed them as you stated? then you have it right, 1 tru 4 on left bank 5 tru 8 on right.

Small notch/dimple on top of piston toward front of engine? if so then you're all set.

I thought the cylinders were 1-2-3-4 on the passenger side and 5-6-7-8 on the drivers side.Number one cylinder is the first cylinder on the forward most bank.As long as you installed the rods with the radius side facing the crank fillet and you have proper rod side clearance and the piston is facing to the front of the engine, you should be OK.The main thing is to check all clearances and ensure the rotating assembly spins freely after each piston/rod install.
