Got my letter today. I'am thinking about waiting a while and watch the how it goes with the rest of you. Have not had any issues, with a little under 11,000 with a build date of Feb. 2011.

I received my letter as well yesterday. Mine runs well and I have no issues, so I'm hesitant to take it in. I'll wait to hear from some of you before I do anything.

I had actually made an appointment two weeks ago because of a CEL. This is the second time this truck has had to have this done. Hopefully it should be good for the next 200K. I would hate to have to pay for this out of warranty and that is only 5000 miles away.

I just read my letter. On the second page it states "Ford Motor Company can deny coverage for any vehicle damage that may result from the failure to have this service action performed on a timely basis. Therefore, please have this service action performed as soon as possible.".

It also says the offer is good until April of 2013 regardless of mileage. They know it's an issue and are giving people plenty of time to take care of it. I'm just kind of an if it ain't broke don't fix it kind of person. I'm going to see how it owrks out for the people that are actually having issues. If it solves all their problems, I'll have it done.

But I still have the same question. If you have this update done (or any other), do they always give you all the latest updates or just the one specific to this issue? Or does one update capture all the previous ones (transmission, NOx sensors, etc)?

I called my dealer 4/19 about getting this done. The PCM and NOX reprogrammings/calibrations were what I was after, after looking my VIN up on the site posted a while back that showed the FSA's, and my dealer told me that unless I had a "complaint" they would not cover the reprogrammings/calibrations under warranty and I would be responsible for payment to cover the time to do them.

I wonder how this letter factors in to that. They would not have sent out the letter if there wasn't a big issue. I wonder how my dealer will react with letter-in-hand? Will it be under warranty then or will they still require a "complaint" first?

This letter does not mention warranty or recall. They are specifically calling it a customer satisfaction program (probably something the lawyers came up with). Anyway, it says it will be formed at any dealer, at no cost, regardless of miles until April 2013.

I would take the letter and ask.
My dealer wants me to come in for the fix but I've not had any issues so I am also hesitant.

Plenty of discussion on this thread. See post 10 and beyond for my experience and those of others. Wish I could undo my NOX replacement.

I got my letter in the mail this weekend as well, guess they had a mass mailing from the corporate office. I too have had zero issues with my truck, nearly 20K miles on it now and our one year anniversary is coming up next month. So I'm hesitant to have this work performed, would hate to wind up like OATS. I attend the, "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" school too.

Looks like we've got a year to decide, regardless. And if it were a huge issue, you'd think there'd be more discussion about it on here. I know a few folks have reported it, but it doesn't seem to be a widespread occurrence.

Anyway, I just love my truck!!

Received my letter Friday, not sure what to do. No problems yet, I guess I will wait for the direction of the "Thundering Herd".

Just got my letter too. I have to take my truck in to the dealer. After a year and over 15K miles, I finally have a warranty issue. The auto unlock is not working. I double-checked the setting in the menu and it is set to auto unlock, but the doors remain locked. I'm going to take it in for that and have them do the update. I'm a little hesitant to do the update since I have zero problems with the truck. We'll see.

Bob, did you have the NOx sensor replaced along with the recalibration? If so, how is it running? How many miles on your truck? Thanks for posting.

No issues here, so I will wait like the rest and see what happens.
