OK, what are my alternatives to the the miles long, staff of the ancients, shift lever that swings from sea to shining sea as you work your way through the gears? I know it doesn't have to take up the entire center 3rd of the cab so no one can sit in the middle. Is there an aftermarket option? Has anyone reshaped theirs, chopped it or anything like that?
I figured at the very least I could cut it down 4-6", rethread it for the **** and give it a bend more towards the driving position. Not like it's breaker bar heat treated or anything. What have you guys done about this issue?
I've never found the long throws on a NP435 to be an issue, i actually find its ergonomics pretty comfortable, but if you're after a short throw NP435 this may be of some help....
I'm not wanting to do a swap out right now but that is good info. It looks like some of the guys in that thread did something like I was thinking.
I actually don't mind the swing or pattern but it is pretty wide and it means no one can sit in the middle which I more than likely will need. I do believe I'll chop off the top and get to bending. I might even bend the transfer case handle a bit to get it more out of the way.
