Fule pump help
I have a 1988 F250 rclb 351w 5spd 4x4, dual tanks.
Previous owner replaced the front tank, and sending unit (sending unit is a carter brand). I have replaced the in line high pressure pump twice.
My problem is, when it's warm out my truck will "vapor lock" if you will. If I let it sit for a bit or add more fuel to it, it'll start up and run fine. It will run out of fuel at 1/4 of a tank. Also the in tank pump doesn't work. The previous owner said the back tank is bad and never used it.
What I want to do is figure out if I am getting power to the in tank pump. Wich wires do I check and the voltage should be 12v correct? Also I want to totally remove the rear tank and make sure it doesn't ever pump fuel to it. I will be the last owner of this truck and don't ever want to put the rear tank in. I have the bed off the truck now and want to fix this fuel issue. Any help would be great. If I need to provide more info ask and I will. The truck runs great in the winter.
Can the high pressure pump suck fuel thro the low pressure in tank pump? I have never delt with this type of a setup.
