I was at Auto zone getting a rear caliper for the truck and notice a scangauge II on the shelf and bought it, figured with the longer towing this year I'd like to keep a better eye on actual temps than the idiot gauges that that never seem to move on the dash. Just have to sit down and figure this thing out but seems from others posting about these scangauges they like them. Anybody running with these and what's your favorite gauge you added to tool?
I bought mine about a year ago. I really like it. Biggest reason I bought it is for the tranny temp and the volts. I use those two plus engine temp and rpms. Basic stuff that I would rather have more accurate that stock gauges. I did have the horsepower gauge turned on at one point. Teenage sons really liked that one. that one was more of a novelty than anything else.
Oh, and the wife said I could get it. That's another plus.

Reason: Fat fingering it again.
Couple of years ago while towing in 100 degree summer in the switchbacks going uphill, my trans temp dummy factory gauge actually moved up, but not yet in the yellow range. ABS light came on.
Pulled over and let it idle for 5 min. Shut it off for 15 min. Temp came back down, ABS light went off. Continued to the campground. Got there and saw ATF dripping.
I've had my ScanGauge for a few years now. I have it mounted above my rear view mirror using a Blend Mount. I'm monitoring transmission and water temps along with voltage and instant fuel economy.
I got a Scangauge II today but I can't get the trans temp to work. I went into the Xgauge menu and added the codes from the scangauge website for it but I only get a single digit # instead of a temp. Anybody know what I did wrong? The truck is an 03 F350 V10.
I'm wondering if the earlier V10s didn't even have a trans temp sensor... come to think of it, I've never seen it in the list of things to monitor with my SCT X3...

Wouldn't it be a transmission thing and nothing to do with the engine? My 4R100 behind my '99.5 PSD worked great with my SGII for tranny temp (TFT). I am pretty sure I didn't even have to make any changes to mount it in my '04 6.0L and now my '02 V10. Just wish I could get the engine oil temp.

Well, the PCM is responsible anyways... great info
Mine almost never gets above 150, although I hardly ever actually work it. I did once in the woods in Upstate NY when it was 90 degrees outside, and it actually got up to 180.

210? I pulled my trailer this weekend and the highest I got up to was 182. It was 72 degrees outside. Looks like I need to get that 6.0 cooler upgrade soon. We're not even at the peak of the summer temps yet.
