Is the offenhauser intake is bad as everbody thinks it is? Is it worth to swap to a edelbrock performer? I am running a mild performance cam and 10:1 compression and headers and a carter afb on top?(Its a 390 four speed in a f100)
I have not heard anything bad about the Offy intakes. In my opinion, the intake is one of the last places to spend money, unless you still have a 2V intake.
Put the money somewhere else. If you do decide get an Ed intake , get the Performer RPM.
I think that on my 360 the offy 360* equaflow had a bit more low end, but when I would check plugs the outside 4 were significantly different dark or lighter dont remember which than the inside 4, when I swapped to a Performer RPM they all became the same color
I've read some articles saying that the offenhauser doesn't flow very well but neither do stock heads. So is it worth it to switch to edelbrock performer instead of my offy 360* ?
Like I said before, I think the differences the intake can make are marginal.
With your setup, you might expect 10-20 HP from the best intake choice. I think even less. Now , if you get some head work done, you could upgrade the intake. But, pulling the Offy intake for the gains I think you will see, I wouldn't bother. Not unless you plan on doing some other mods and are pulling the intake anyway.
