heater hoses orientation?

Hey when hooking up heater core hoses to the motor, does it matter which hose goes to the water pump and which one goes to the motor intake port? R or L sides of core ports? 66 ford with a new 302

On a 352, the water pump hose goes to the outboard side firewall inlet pipe to the heater.

For heavens sake, don't get them backwards or else the heater will start to work backward as well (like an air conditioner) and the heater fan will start blowing cold air.

Most folks here on FTE don't know this and they end up spending hundreds of $ on an air conditioning system, when in reality, they only had to reverse the hoses.

('course you will have to change them back again when winter comes along.)

Makes no difference at all, as long as there is a loop.

Y'all have forgotten something / 1965/66 F100/1100:

Deluxe fresh ar heater: Has 2 cables w/***** mounted to a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the dash, to the right of the steering column.

Spliced into the inlet-to-heater-core heater hose is the cable controlled heater water valve (C3UZ-18495-A / Available from Ford).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Economy fresh air heater: Spliced into the inlet-to-heater-core heater hose is the manually operated shut-off water valve (C5TZ-18495-A / Obsolete / 18 available NOS).

If you don't have either type of these valves spliced into the hose, hot water will flow unchecked directly into the heater core.

Not pleasant when the outside temp is hotter than a popcorn phart!

Wink Hooking up heater core hoses

Thanks to all. Hey Old Harley, It looks like you have a 66 Red and White model like mine. Mine is a shortbox, and I am doing a total transformation with a 302 and a AOD tranny. Also I replaced the whole front end with an updated power disc brakes. Lots of work, but I am nearing the end of it.
