Front axle spline count...

Front axle spline count...
Hey guys,I'm needing a passenger side axle shaft,(truck in sig)the guy at the local parts yard said he was sure he had one but said he needed the spline count.Is there any way of telling the spline count from the tag or knowing from the truck itself or do you have to remove the axle and count them yourself? Thanks...Phil

The axles are basically the same so it really doesn't matter, I just try find out which diffs everyone has since they seem to be hit or miss. The outers should be 30 spline on either a 50 or 60 up to 2004 then there are some 35 spline outers.

Yeah when I talked to the guy at the parts yard he said he would need to know the spline count,I've been busy and haven't had time to mess with it,I hope to this weekend though. The reason I was trying to find out from here is they're only open on weekdays,I have a little time in the morning but not enough to go down there. I was hoping to get all the info I would need and send my wife to pick it up...Thanks

30 spline on the outer stub shafts on either a 50 or a 60 same from the U-joints out. Did you break one Phil...too much drag racing, lol. Or did the needle bearings wear down the shaft?

While replacing the hubs I discovered a little wear on the passenger side outer shaft,(I bought it five years ago,I figure the PO ran a bad hub too long),anyway it's been roaring for a while so I'm getting parts together to replace it.

I know that there are two different spline counts which is why he needs to know. I don't know if it is based on the production year or just luck of the draw for which axle they stick in the D60, though. There's 35-spline and I think the other one is either a 30-spline or 32-spline axle.

does anybody else know how to tell without pulling a hub? ive got E99 F-350 D60 front,, i thought i had counted 35 but now i cant remember, i can only find hubs for 30 spline...
i need hubs is why.... was almost stuck yesterday because the hubs wouldnt lock.. then they wouldnt unlock,,,,
a quick answer would be great while im still on..

I have 35 spline chromoly outers that I put in my jeep Dana 60 and I have Warn premium hubs on it. When I get home I can get you the part number off the box. I will double check the spline count on my superduty when I get home also.
