There are several colors I like on F150's. Oxford White is not nessisarily my favorite but I have found that it's much easier to keep looking good. White doesn't show scratches and it's easier to keep cool in the heat of the summer.
It mostly depends on if you like the practicality of a particular color over looks.
I am leaning towards Tuxedo Black. My 2011 F-350 was this color and it was the sharpest truck I have ever owned. I have never had a vehicle, aside of my Audi S6, attract more comments and discussion at the the gas station. And the only reason the Audi does is because of the V10 badge on the side.
The dealer I am buying the F-150 from bought my 350 from the Audi dealer I bought my S6 from. My salesman told me that they put that truck out front (normally for new vehicles only) and it drew more gawkers than any of the new ones. It sold in a week. I bought the truck 19 months ago for $49,000 ($60,090 sticker). The trade in value was $44,500. Not too bad if you ask me!
Anyway, does anyone know if there is any type of UV blocker or protection in the paint these days?
sterling grey mettalic on the fx4 gives a nice monochromatic look as the head and tail lights have a grey tint to them and the stock 18 inch wheels are also color matched to this color!

I pretty much agree. The white will last longer. Colors eventually fade and metallics fade even faster. Where I live, white is one heckuva lot cooler than any other color!
I'd guess that dealers know what sells; black or white trucks seem to be to in the majority.
For 2012 Ford offered a new color; Green Gem. These are as rare as gems. I've never seen one, and as I like green, have looked on line at dozens of dealerships, and rarely come across one. My current truck, a 95 Silverado is green, and it seems that it's green color was the primary one sold as I see "my truck" over and over every day.
Just curious; has anyone looked carefully at a "Green Gem?" IT looks pretty dark; any ideas
why they are so few and far between?
If you live anywhere in the South where it's hot, you'll regret black!! I vowed to never buy a black vehicle after owning one in the south. 125* + in the summer + my leather steering LITERALLY melting and peeling in my hands = no black for this guy, ever.
Went from 06 black to 2011 white...my black was a beauty but needed a towel dry after washing or it looked like sh-- from the water stains. The white I let dry in the wind (& in half the time without wiping) & looks fine; cant see the water stains unless you use a magnifying glass.
Go white.
