Help,
I have recently purchased a 4/99 F350 SD 7.3 TD. Was going good but always had a slight ticking noise coming from behind the turbo. In recent weeks it has got worse and the truck seems to be down on power a bit. On closer inspection the passengers side up pipe,(drivers side for you guys) has a heap of black soot at the base of the donut. Being in Australia, parts and getting help with these trucks is very hard. Should I replace with original ones or is there something else out there that will preform better and last longer. Any feed back would be a help!
You should probably ask your question in the 7.3L Power Stroke engine forum, instead of the general Super Duty truck forum. The guys in the Power Stroke forum can give you some great advice on how to make your engine happy. Just click on this link.
Thanks mate, I checked out that web site you suggested and all looks good. I will just have to get a mechanic interested in doing the job, as I haven't the time to spend on fixing it myself, due to work commitments. Mine is a 4/99 and the set suggested are a 99.5 - 03 but look like the ones I need. I guess I could email Clay as you suggested just to ensure I order the correct set.

Yes, with a production date later than 12/7/98 on the valve cover you will want the 99.5-03, but give us a call if you have any questions.
Welcome to FTE. We've got several members from your neck of the woods. What part of Australia are you in?
The bellowed up pipes are the permanent fix, but since things can get pricey over there, you could get by for a while on just using some new donuts. Chevy small block gaskets work since they are oversized a bit, and are a lot less expensive. The Felpro 8194 gasket or equal is what you want. It takes two (one for each side at the collector).
If you order the bellowed up pipes from Riffraff, I'd suggest you do some more reading and asking questions here and make sure there's not more goodies you want to order at the same time to save on shipping.
Chris,
I live just on the north of the gold coast. I think I will just order the bellows from riffraff just to be sure that it won't be an issue again. I found two guys that will do the job. One wants to take the gearbox out and the other will do it in the vehicle. I know which one I will be using. I have learnt something though. These superduty trucks are so much different from the aussie ones.

Get some new o-rings for the turbo to pedestal and pedestal to block. It will be a whole lot easer to take the turbo off to install the up pipes. Once the turbo is off, you can install new exhaust, intake, even a new 38r. Well you know what I mean.
We can help you fill up one of those containers that are shipped on a container ship, if you want.
Its a shame. I've already have the pedestal seals done in an attempt to stop the leak early this year. As for the shipping container, how I'd love that, but how the misses would hate it.
