95' 4.0 E-4 wheel
no brake fluid leaks
fluid level is fine
no pulling codes , my check engine light is burnt out
braking power seems a bit off when the abs light comes on!?
This is a common issue with Aerostars, as a quick search on this forum will illustrate. To decrease any apprehension you may have about the RABS light, the rear brakes will still function normally when the light is on. Rather than having a load sensitive brake controller, Ford chose the RABS system which gives an anti-lock system to the rear wheels during hard braking. Panic stops with rear wheel lock up are the only time RABS should operate.
Several things can cause the lights to come on. The RABS control unit located below the master brake cylinder can, over time, corrode the internal contacts from moisture contaminated brake fluid. One of the valves will stick open or closed causing an error message. Sometimes, tapping the RABS unit will unstick the offending valve, but do not beat on it. Other times, there is a small switch inside the master brake cylinder reservoir that can begin to leak and short itself out, also causing an error message.
So the search and a little research beforehand, then post back with your questions and findings. There are a lot of experienced people on this forum to help you through this.
