Let me explain what I am trying to do and I'll let you experts chime in with your input. Let me know if you need any clarification on what I am trying to do.
Im swapping in a 79 351W without emissions intake and heads into my 84 F250. We pulled the new engine out of an 85 F-150 that had already been emissions eliminated and had a simple wiring kit ran for it, retaining the original fusebox.
We went through the engine bottom to top, scrubbed everything down and now it is installed and bolted in, alternator and started have been wired and we've got the computer and simple wiring kit almost ready to go. Right now I lack the wiring diagrams for everything under the dash.
Now please correct me if I'm wrong, but the game plan is to hook up the ignition, wire the main to the fuse panel and disconnect the old emissions computer. Is that all there is to it? Does anybody have a complete diagram I can borrow? Tackled this project before and have advice? I'm open to suggestions! Thanks in advance guys!
I have to ask, living in Washington, are you going to be able to register it? Some states require that the motor and emissions be equal to or newer than the vehicle year. Just hate to see you do all that work and not be able to.
And I think Franklin2 is right, IIRC only the 300 had computers in 84.

All 84 to 86 300's had computer controlled YFA 1bbl feedback carburetors with the computer mounted behind the ashtray.
80 or 81 to 83 Californian 300's had computer controlled carbs. 80 to 83 49-state 300's were DSII.
302's had fuel injection as an option around 84, IIRC.
351W 2bbl's, if they were still around in 84, would have a feedback 2bbl carburetor, I think. Not sure on that one.
It originally had a 351w 2bbl with a feedback carb. I haven't taken my dash apart yet, but it looks like the computer also sits behind the ashtray.
kedwinh, that's one of the awesome parts of living in WA; any vehicle more than 25 years old is considered "Exempt" and no longer has to go through the inspection process.

That's great. We don't have to have smog checks here where I live in Arizona but do have a visual inspection for reconstructed vehicles. Even had to go thru one when I licensed my 48 ****** CJ2.
