I have never been one for the rumbly idle thing on street cars. I like sleepers. there is nothing like the look on someones face when they get fooled by a sleeper.

agreed. that is why the passenger side tailpipe is "hanging" on the 7 litre.
most people have no idea what it is, they think it is just another old sixties 6 cylinder powered car. then get a surprise when i blow their doors off.

the fact the rear quarters have Galaxie 500 tags on them may help in the disguise.

i have been struggling with a plan for the 79 trsns am for a while. first... its a hard top. i want a t top.

i am not sure if i should chop it and swap the roof or just get a t top body and swap the vin sections.

second, it currently has a buick 403 stock (auto). that has to change. i have an LT1 that i put in my jeep that has been sitting for 10 years or so. it has a 4x4 4l60e in it that is built heavy duty and it has less than 1000 miles on it. i could pull it and change out the tailshaft to 2wd and have a nice drive train.

put there is a large part of me that says it should have a pontiac 400 and a t56. unfortunatly, a good stock 400 is almpst impossible to find and t56s are rather expencive for what they are in the used market...

hmmm.... not sure what to do. i think the easiest is get a new body and use the lt1 but i have no room to store an extra body. not sure what the best route is...

Richard

btw, i hope you dont mind rambling... i figured this was as good a place as any.

I really like it when i read the brand loyalty you fellas have. I cant say I'm 100% Ford but i can absolutely recognize a good thing when i see/experience one. IMHO the 94.5-97 PSD is hands down the best truck ever built.

I watched a youtube video of a fell who was pleading his case about a 6.0L catastrophe he was going through, it was two parts. He, his dad, and his brothers had all been Ford owners. It really broke my heart and made me pretty pissed off how his Ford dealer and Ford itself treated him throughout his ordeal. Im not chitting on Ford here by any means; when i read some of your posts above it just reminded me of how emotional it can be when someone you trust lets you down beyond belief...

You can tell he's totally frazzled and at his wits end...
Part 1
Part 2

Oh, not really true. Stock form that 428 doesn't need a lot of rpm, 5500 and it will still be pulling like a bear! Now, let's talk not stock, I'd love to build an 8000rpm FE, just a slight problem with my wallet. They get run to 7000 with stock bottom ends all the time. You are taking a chance with the stock rods (after being used and abused for 40 years), but the cranks are real tough. Put some aftermarket parts in and you can jump that rpm number up.

Not trying to flame you Aaron. I'm just an FE man, was raised with them since I was 4.

Lots more support for the FE nowadays than there used to be. That makes me so happy. Heck, just had one new supplier of engine blocks come forth, and another company is building them and about to start selling them too. That makes 4 places that I can think of making new 427 blocks. More than that making aluminum heads.

Yes,it just worries me is all. believe me...i have had a few fe's over the years. i had an ol 390 i tried daily to shuck.nevver could so i finally put the "good" engine in anyway.iiit would pull till the lifters collapsed.they were my rev limiter i guess.
i just would be overly cautious for the original engine.l had a valve drop in my s code 67 cyclone gt..what a bad feeling hearing the rad empty into the oil pan.

yea, power with that 428 beast is no problem. keeping it at respectable speeds is one though.
it idles in first gear at 15 mph with the 3.0 gears in the rear.
never had it revved out, best i had was 165 on radar, the next unit 3 miles down the road did not read it because the old units we were using were only accurate to 160 mph.
at 165 mph it was a hand full, and i still had more in it.
it will smoke the rear tires when you power shift to fourth at 100mph.
i did the top end of the engine when i got it 15 years ago because it had 2 bent and 2 burnt exhaust valves.
bottom end of the engine needs a freshening up though, it has low oil pressure when hot.

We had a Galaxy 500 when I was growing up but I don't recall it being fast... lol. It was the seaweed green with black interior and no air conditioning. Summers were tough in Florida! Got worse when we moved to Texas with it.

I'm Ford most of the way. Their social policies irritate me and seem to conflict with their core base, but I suppose I'm primarily thinking of their truck side. The car side needs to appeal to the masses regardless of what roads they take - metaphorically speaking. It was nice that they didn't need a bailout anyway.
