When I got the mule the rails were already in there. The back rail was 30" from the back of the bed. The directions that came with the new rails said 32 1/2". I got on etrailer website and they said the same, 32 1/2" so I went with that. Who knows, it might have been the reason I had some ride issues with the mule?

I can't believe that the mods, locked him off the forum though without even getting his side of the story. The poster could have just been trying to rip him off and they didn't even give him a chance to defend himself....Cumminsbillies....

typical cummings forks.
i think it is pretty self explanatory that when you buy used parts, it is "as is" especially after you inspect the parts pay for them, and take them home.
then wait 3 weeks to report a problem with the parts you inspected and said they were ok?
total BS.
and total BS on the part of the moderators for locking the seller out so he can not even give his say on what when down.

No, Talyn, its 32 1/2" from the back of the bed to the back edge of the back rail.
The mule was 30" and Jose I had a lot of 'chucking' as they call it in the RV business. Its when you are going over bumps and the 5th wheel slams down on the pickup. I bought a Trailer Saver hitch that has air bags and shocks and it solved the problem. Installing the hitch rails I learned something, the directions said the 32 1/2" was for a long bed and short bed. So, the two foot shorter bed is two foot shorter in the front of the bed. I always thought it was in the back.

I just went out and measured mine and it measures 30 in. to the back edge of the rail to the back edge of the bed, and would be exactly 2 1/2 inches more to the center of the rail where the bolts go through. IIRC the pin would be exactly between the rails and exactly centered over the rear axle. I also remember some people installed the rails up to 2 inches forward or backward depending what they wanted to accomplish. (not recommended though) forward of coarse would adjust more weight forward to even out or put more weight forward , and back a couple of inches doesn't seem to me would make any sense at all unless it would give a little more room if a person with a short bed and no slider hitch and needed a little more clearance. If the mare is a short bed most likely most of this would not apply IDK You said they are the same so I guess it would apply

The mare is a long bed just like the mule. Twelve page instructions came with the rails and I went to the page that listed my truck. When I measured the mule at 30" and the instructions called for 32 1/2" I thought I would just go by the instructions thinking that the mule might have been wrong. You tell me your at 30" inches, this is confusing.

I think you did the right thing Glenn. I remember when I bought the kit the RV store sales person got me the kit that had been opened and he may have came up with instructions that were not correct. IDK it is confusing. Here is a video I found and it shows 32 1/2

Random question, but what is the part number and where did you purchase your headlights you have on your truck? I've been searching around for lights for mine and Aaron's trucks and haven't come up with anything.... Thanks for putting up with the random question! You can either pm me or email me at joshgallant80@gmail.com.
