Inter cooler question

Okay don't laugh at me... I don't know much about inter coolers. My friend has a turbos vw but he wrecked it. He said I can have the inter cooler. I don't think it would work but he sai it would work with some changes but it would work. Will it?

It can be put in but it won't cool. The 7.3l intercooler is about 2.5-3' wide and bout 1.5-2' tall and only drops temps around 150*

Did I read that right? Your friend wrecked his VeeDub and you want to use the old intercooler?

Like anything, if you've got the skills, you can make it "work", but the I/C from the VW is so small it won't be worth the effort. You need a big I/C for the better cooling and big gulps of air our trucks need.

Go read the write-ups for I/C installs in the tech/mods sticky and that will give you a better idea for what you really need to do.

Okay that's what I told him but he didn't want to listen and he said it would work. I didn't think so! It's sounded dumb but I was making sure! What could I use? One from a sd?

dont waste your time on the VW cooler. If you want to cool the charge air go with the 6.0 cooler or the all metal superduty cooler. if youre really looking to drop the temps you could go with water/meth injection. it is a whole lot easier to install.

His inter cooler is 3 ft by 4 ft and has 2.5 and 3 inch outlet. Would this do anything? I'm wondering because it is free haha

If you slap an "type r" sticker on your truck, you'll probably get another 15 hp too.

hahahaha.

You could always take it anyways.

Then take some pictures of it and do some research.
Maybe you got the next best idea coming on.
I doubt it will cool as well as a big truck cooler though.

But then, who's to say that.

Where the he$% was a 12 sq ft intercooler on a vw? That's real big, I need to see a pic. My 6.0 one is big, but not like that.. How thick is it?

I tried to put a "I'm fast" sticker on it and I gained about 5hp.... I'm thinking about putting an "I'm really fast" sticker on it and see how it does lol

And it was on the front but the bumper was all cut out and it looked ridiculous lol
