Evidently the range fork is not supposed to look like this.
I also found an easy way to split the cases thanks to a buddy of mine.
Two prybars back to back on the split tabs and just pushem together. will try to get the wife to take a demonstration pic later.
Found a new fork and pads local for $70 and change. They make an upgraded main shaft and forks I found anywhere from $333 to $500+ but not local so if the first fork went 270k miles I would be happy with half that on the second one. Now to get it all back together correctly.
O K not sure how that happened. I am not a comp wiz, but those pics where taken at the same time with the same camera and loaded up the same way. Oh well
it is edited with the pic in place now.
Just FYI when taking the tail housing off useing this method one might want to leave a loose bolt in. Or have someone standing by to catch it when it pops off. Mine flew off and bounced across the concrete garage floor a few times. Nothing hurt though.
Now going back together?? Do you all think ultra grey high torque RTV will do the job? Also I am looking for some torque specs as well if anyone has any idea. I will keep looking in the mean time. I know I have a ford cd around here somewhere just not sure if it has specs if I can even find it.

thanks
That rtv should work. Just high temp rtv is good enouh to seal it.
Are the case bolts metric? What size?
EDIT:
Just found this in the service manual DVD:
NOTE: Use a crisscross pattern when tightening the case bolts. Torque is 23 lb/ft.
My T case is making a racket in my 99. I am assuming yours is a NP 273. My is electric shift. How many splines on your shaft? I am planning to do a complete rebuild. Thanks for pics.
