ok first issue that showed up today is i have running light issues idk where to check first... im not very good at pinpointing electrical problems (the issue started as or seemed like it was my light switch) I temporarily put a wire around the posts on the switch attached to a toggle switch so i could have running lights it worked until earlier today the toggle switch started overheating and the wire started melting i then cut the wires from the switch and got one of the 2 running light wires connected to a wire and i just touched the wire to see if it had a connection and it did a decent little spark and pretty quick the wire started getting hot... My buddy said the driver side front light was the only one that was on i am not sure but im thinking the 2 running light wires that are the feed around the truck are split from one wire from the front to the rear?
sorry for all the colors but i figured it would help seperate all my problems the only thing i have changed recently is the bed but i didn't touch wiring and i double checked and there are no pinched wires in between the bed and the frame
im confused and short of just running a new wire all the way around the truck idk how to fix this.... (would probably be the easy solution)
other issue i am having is in 6 days i bent 2 rods on my clutch master cylinder first one i am guessing is because i had it adjusted out to far and this one i have no idea why it happened again i don't have it out that far i have no clue why this is happening

Reason: couldn't see words
something is obviously shorting out. you might try unplugging the connector between the bed harness and the harness on the frame to see which system has the short, then work on finding the problem from there. worst case just bypass the offensive section of wire
the running light wires all leave the switch as one, and i don't know where they branch out in different directions, but obviously they do
The clutch I can't help much with but ill take a stab at your lights. If I'm reading you correctly I think u wag have 2 issues there. U said u bypassed the switch and it work fine, at that point I would say your stock switch is bad. The toggle switch you installed was most likely not rated for as much current as the light system draws that's why it failed. But if the wires r getting hot in just a quick touch then u most likely have a short. And I would say that short killed your stock switch. I would look into the connectors at the lights first to see if any r degraded then the harness connections in the wiring. Good luck man I hate tracing down electrical shorts too
Haven't looked yet (just got home from work 5am-2:30pm) I am gonna start with my fender markers and go from the if I remember right they were kinda coroded when I changed the bulbs last time and my passenger side went out about a week ago... And I'm trying to check if I remember correctly the front is on one feed the back is on another both feed off the same contact in the switch? I just kinda find it funny that the electrical problem (except the switch) showed up after changing the bed.... Or maybe just got worse..... Idk
ok looked at ALL of my sockets looked at my wiring i even looked at the plug ins for each harness i can't find any issues (visible) anywhere... so for my running light issue i decided on just running a wire for them!.....
only thing i can figure out for my clutch is maybe its being caused by my firewall... i noticed that it is letting go (rusting out right there)
Sorry ur light issue was not something simply but bypassing it should end your problem. Also good luck with the clutch I don't know much about them but it makes sense at least to me that if the firewall is flexing something will bend eventually
i think i am figuring out part of my lighting issue... i did run a new wire for all of them but i think my trucks issue is ground problems... i am gonna run a new ground for the body but i also... today i started testing my firewall using one of one of my old master cylinder that failed hydraulically anyway i pushed the pedal by hand and was looking at my firewall and i could see more daylight when i pushed the pedal and looking at the rod it was at an odd angle while i pushed the pedal and i am almost absolutely positive that my rod is bending due to my firewall
Glad you have tracked down your light issue, and you should defiantly be able to repair the fire wall I know i was reading on here they make firewall re-enforcement kits, sorry cant remember off hand where i saw it i think it was in an auto to zf5 conversion post
