IP?

85 3/4 ton 6.9, manual. Won't start. Tracked to fuel problem, turned it over to my mechanic. He agrees.
Ok, so me (and the mechanic) are getting plenty of fuel at the lift pump and the schrader valve on the filter, but just tiny little squirts from the return lines when cracked. He thinks it's the IP.

1st question: Do you guys agree?

2nd question: If it is the IP, and I replace it, am I going to need to replace the injectors as well?

3rd question: What is the cheapest way to replace/rebuild the injector pump, and injectors, if I need 'em.

He's gonna call some junkyards on Monday. Hope something turns up.

When you say, "plenty of fuel" do you mean , you did a flow test in a can!

start with a lift pump and filter. if you still have a problem, do the IP. if the IP is worn out, chances are you'll benefit from replacing the injectors, though they may not be critical at this point. IP is 5-600, and injectors are pretty cheap, i don't have an exact number off the top of my head, but only a couple hundred for the whole set

Before condemning the IP do a fuel test, you need both pressure and volume for the IP to work properly. At the schrader valve u want 6psi and approximately 1/3 of a pint in 10 seconds for volume while cranking. She will run with less (mine stopped running when i droped below 2psi) but will be hard to start. Then if it were me and it was low on either test i would change the filter and re-test, still pow change out the lift pump. Once u get good fuel in the u can worm on the IP . BTW how many miles r on the IP and injectors?
