What is this???

Ok, I was looking around under the hood and noticed these black pads surrounding both batteries.

Are these pads heated or non-heated to prevent the batteries from freezing? I tried long up this number but no luck.

Thanks

I can't find then on a parts site.

From my experience....... They might be "Blankets" that are used to shield the battries from the high heat of the engine. Heat is the biggest killer of battries.

battery blanket and insulator. No power to it...keeps the engine heat away from the battery.

battery heat shields. the 6.4 only had only one (driver side) as it was the warmer location. 6.7 has em on both sides. i swapped out my batteries from my 6.4 to my 6.7 at the dealership when i did the trade in. the salesperson asked me the same thing.

Just curious why you did that? You just bought new batteries and they were of better quality than the OEM ones I am guessing...

Good guess. Had just bought a pair of 1000cca absorbed glass mat's to replace the flooded cell 750sor that are oem. Which suck imho for many reasons, mainly they arent sealed and were venting that lead to a corroded terminal that nearly ate the entire connector.

On your new truck?
My OEM batteries have never failed me or caused any harm in 30,000+ miles.

On my 6.4 with 56k and 4 years old. 3 of 4the terminal were fine, but the one that was corroded was so bad that the terminal separated from the battery
