Ok to get thing started i got some electric fans from an Ls1 Camero now what else do i need? im Completly clueless about it, i really want to get this done because every day that i have'nt installed it, im loosing money on gas.....but i just dont know what to do.
I was looking on ebay for some wiring kits but i couldnt find anything that was specific for that if anybody can give me a link to a nice cheap wiring kit or another way to go around it i got the complete fan and harness(My step dad bought the engine for his camero, Spare parts)but what about the thermostat, just so many question...
well i dont know which one to get im looking at the Flex-a-lite 31165 Variable Speed Control. $99.99
or the JEGS Preformance 52126 Adjustable Dual Fan Control Kit w/ Dry Temperature Sensor.$139.99
doseanyone have any recommendations?
PS i know i have 2 fans but if i did buy the first one couldnt i just wire both fans to on output?
I think the two-fan idea is one kicks in when coolant temp rises to a sensor's set point---the second kicking in if the temps spike or remain high enough to require the additional airflow.
You'll need to determine the amp draw of both fans together and make sure the controller can handle that load. Having them both running would most likely cause them to cycle on and off since the cooling effect would be too good, coolant temps rising and falling instead of a steady temp being maintained. The engine thermostat would get quite a workout!
The key to adapting this dual-fan assembly will be the temp sensors; where they're located, what their trigger temps are, etc etc. Relays could be used if the amp draw exceeds the shown controllers 100% duty cycle rating, especially if you'll be running the fans wired as one (controller) output.
It seems the Flex-A-Lite unit can handle the two-fan situation so all you'd have to rewire the fan assembly to accommodate that---shouldn't be too tough a job. The Jeg's kit mentions non-replaceable relays which would trouble me.
I hope you got this assembly free or very little money? You'll be doing some "field engineering" which is fun but can be quite a work out all on its own!
Hope this works out for you----keep us posted about your progress!
Well i came across this site online LT1 Fans i figured since i got camero parts i should just follow the way others would do there chevys which thats why i was asking about the flexalite becasue this guy used the same kit
also what did you mean about the assembly? from the camero?

Yes I mean the fans and their mounting shroud, the whole thing IOW---sorry about that confusion!
If someone else has used the Flex-A-Lite and its working for him that's your best route then---can't argue with success. How will the fan assembly mount to your radiator or are you still working that out?
Well i did get every thing but the cameros dont realy have a useful fan shrout, ase for the mounts im using them from the camero as well i'll take some picture once i get started on the project, i orderd the Flex-a-lite VSC yesterday before 9PM so they have shipped it hopefully it will get here this saturday but nvm they said monday
I'm glad you got it. I usually pass off spelling errors as a slip of the fingers on the keyboard. Lord knows I have fat fingers and make lots of mistakes.
I think that Camero is likely the most prominent mis-spelling on Craigslist in my area, mainly among folks that are selling one!!

Well got some stuff done today but this damn coldfront isnt letting me do *****, but anyways the brackets that the camaro had, arnt going to work if only i make a hole ontop of the radiator support. Even if thats works, im gonna have to make some custom brackets for the sides but i'll guess i might finish tomarrow, i dont want to get sick
took me about an 1hour or little more to take off the fan.
