Wow, could be 100 things.

How long has it been sitting not running? Original carb?
Does it have electric or mechanical fuel pumps? If electric, are they running?
Spark plug wires in the correct order?
Does it even try to start or just crank over?

Compression, spark and fuel are all you need for an engine to run.

If the plugs are clean and dry there shouldn't be a problem getting a spark. Perhaps it's coming at the wrong time?

well....... Sort of. Its not exactly THAT simple. He has all three of the above and it doesn't run.

Too much, not enough, or incorrect timing of any one of the three "components" above and you have no running engine.

....That's why I said if the plugs were dry the ignition could be out of time.

Obviously he has enough of an accelerator pump shot that the engine should pop, even if the jets are so clogged and it won't run.
If the plugs are clean try it on ether.
If that doesn't work there's definitely an ignition issue.

certainly sounds like ignition alright. heck you can dump fuel down the throat and It'll at least try to start.

What have you done lately to the engine? Have you messed with the coil, distributor, module? Anything? Replaced the dist. cap maybe?

Just having spark don't tell us if it's at the right time.

How did you determine you have spark?
