Tire Upgrades
While I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new F-150 HD Screw that I ordered in March, I'm also considering upgrading the tires. I know it should arrive with LT245 75 17 stock, but I'm thinking about going to LT265 70 17 tires. When I mentioned this idea to the dealer, he said that he recommended against it because it would mess with the calibration of the speedometer and lower the towing capacity of the vehicle. While I agree with his theory at face, I think he is over reacting. Meaning if I were to make a big jump in tire size, then he would have a point, but what I'm talking about is just a modest change.
I did some research on the stock tires and the tires I'm interested in and found only small differences in the tire weights and revs per minute.
Is what the dealer telling me true or is he in fact over reacting?
