Alright this will be my last thread on which swap I should do. I know older members get tired of the same crap all the time. So I just wanted one last thread to see which would be the better choice for me to go.
My current setup.
the 48 is setup for a FE Big Block, has a c6 tranny, driveline made & rear end.
has no pedals, shift linkage, cluster, brakes.
I'd prefer a FI motor but will go with whichever I guess
Any motor I swap if the ECU & harness is needed I would have it so no problem
Anything listed about the vehicles is what the owner told me
Option 1
1995 Mercury Grand Marquis - 4.6l V8, Posi Trac, Liau Reach Rear End(no idea) & disk brakes all around
I'd have ECU, All wiring to make this possible
Option 2
1983 Ford LTD 2DR - 302 V8 3sp Auto, Power steering starting to whine.
Option 3
I still have not had a call back from the owner
1975 Ford F 250 Camper Special - 390, 2 bbl. carb., auto
All 3 run good and are drive-able right now.
Which would be the better swap?
Easiest is the F250 since I'm setup currently for the motor.
But is there any chance on the LTD the body of my f1 can go on the LTD frame? Just to save me the hassle of swaping motors.
Can that be done on the F250? I'd assuming its to long but thought I'd ask.
Now I get most people will probably say I shouldn't move the body and that anything more then a normal swap isn't worth it. But I have nothing to do and it's a good project to keep me busy.
And lastly of course I know anything is possible but I want to know which is the easiest and cheapest option without having to sell a kidney.
Jag IFS with a 57-72 9" rear end will be just fine when attached to your stock F1 frame. As for the engines, I have no clue.
Newer frame swaps are practically impossible to do correctly on an F1 because of the length, width and flatness on the bottom. Most newer frames are too long, too wide and have kick ups in the suspension areas.
alright well then forget any IFS from any of the 3.
It'd be just engine, tranny, brakes, pedals and anything else I can use.
I can get the 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis for $300 running
I can get the 1983 Ford LTD 2DR for $550 running
Or I can get the 1975 Ford F250 for $500 running
I was favoring the Merc because of Disk brakes and everything needed with disk brakes aswell as FI.
IMHO, if I were working this project I'd use the 83 LTD. The 302 is a good engine with lots of parts availability. It probably has a C4 or FMX transmission, either of which would work fine. I'm pretty sure the rear end is a possibility in an F-1. Also, I know that some have used early LTD front suspensions (frame graft) under these trucks, so that also may be possible. So, from my point of view you get the most bang for the buck from the LTD...
I won't vote for any of them - If you choose based on my opinion and don't like it then I'm to blame and you get off scott free - Make your own choice it's your truck and your money.
Maybe you should post a poll for your wheels

mmm alright. Well not really sure why anybody would blame someone on a forum for there opinion. So not sure why there was the need to comment.
Im, as far as you can get from being an expert, but my vote would be for the 302, Parts are everywhere, MPG is better than the 390 but has plenty of power for my taste, and has room for headers without hacking anything up, and will accept a variaty of transmission choices. That said, I dont know about Washinton law, but in Calif. they are talking about or have already put into law a rule that the vehicle must pass smog specs for the year of the motor it caries, wich would make the 390 better as far as smog. Personaly Im not sure I could keep keep a 2 barrell on it and my foot out of it. You might check on your local smog laws B4 making a final decission. A pre smog 302 would be perfect. Its only my opinion, good luck, Im looking forward to following your build. Whatever you choose to use. Your smart to ask B4 jumping in with both feet, only to realize how deep the water is. PS welcome to the site.
thanks, and yeah where I live we have no emmisons. And since I have the Title for the truck I don't have to get it inspected.
I think I'm going with the mercury though. Only because it's newer and I get all the newer components that I can try to make work. And I figure if I can't use the front clip at all or rear end. The $300 I'm spending on the whole car is worth the motor and tranny alone. So I can always sell the rear end, and parts to make back my small investment to get the motor and tranny for free in the end..
I thought about the LTD but and I know the 302s have alot available. I just have zero knowledge about carbs and in my head be easier with FI
