Hi, My name is Larry, and i just bought a 1993 f250 5.8 and was wondering if i could get some info about what octane of gas would be best, are there any sites that i can get tech. info at? like when to do a tune up spark plug type.
Running any higher octane is useless. Higher octane is for higher compression engines. Just means the gas ignites at a higher temperature.
Now for those that will come and say, well my truck runs sooooooooooo much better on high octane, I'll explain why.
That means your engine is getting old, and has some carbon built up in the cylinders, witch closes the firing chamber, making it smaller.
So that means your actually raising your compression, because the firing chamber is smaller, creating higher temperatures, so higher octane gas will burn better in an older carboned up engine.
