Tie rod end.

Any suggestions on what brand tie rod end is a good one? I've got a nasty clunk when turning the wheel that I've traced back to a tie rod end that I installed not too long ago. I installed the Moog "problem solver" and the stupid thing is popping so loud it's driving me crazy.

I'm thinking I'll just do the driver side for now since that's the source of the noise and just measure 12 times before and after so I can hopefully skip the alignment.

What brands have you had good or bad luck with? I'm thinking of just going with the generic, private label parts store brand this time since Moog didn't last a year. The stock ones went over 350k, but was getting a little sloppy.

I also burned out a headlight bulb. It's been a rough day.

Just put XRF tie rods on my truck this afternoon.

They come with a million mile warranty to the original purchaser so long as you've got the receipt.

Paid $300 for everything. between the pitman arm and knuckles.

I thought moog was lifetime. Ball joints are anyway. Might ask where you bought em at.

The part is pretty cheap (except for the XRF) and I was less than impressed with the quality to begin with. The bottom plate the zerk fitting screws into was so thin the fittings don't want to stay threaded in. I have to hand thread a new fitting in each time I want to grease them.

I was looking for another (inexpensive) brand to try since my stock ones seemed to last for so long. I'm not sure I want to spend the money on the XRF parts, but I do have their ball joints.

I just use the Napa brand, forget the manufacture of them. Not sure if they are lifetime, i will have to check with him if he even kept the receipt.

No alignment. No issues. Just measured everything

I replaced everything about 20K miles ago from the pitman arm to the knuckles. Since the OEM lasted me over 190K I went with OEM again. The OEM hiem joints are greasable anyway which is the only reason I would have switched. With the OEM I know it's going to be a perfect fit.

Chris since your stock one lasted so long why not put another OEM one in? Bring it out to the Nor Cal GTG tomorrow and we'll get it swapped out!

I am still running stock parts in my personal truck as well (288k miles..)

We have replaced them in several of our work trucks though. I'm told we used the NAPA brand. According to my service guy...he says they carry a standard and Heavy Duty brand. The HD brand is a closer match to OEM parts so that is what he uses. So far we haven't had to replace any NAPA parts...

I asked him to dig up a receipt to see if it had any part numbers. If he find one, I'll post back with the info...

^ What the Californian said.

Got my truck aligned today by measuring end to end on everything before reassembly they only had to tweak it 1/16" to get it just right. Will likely purchase XRF products again when it comes time for ball joints on my truck.
