i have a California 1994 Ford Ranger 2.3 manual Transmission that has been pinging only in 5th Gear...its only been doing that since last year ive checked an replaced the Dpfe Sensor the egr vacuum Regular an checked the egr valve an it still pings does anybody have an idea wat else it could Be????? please help tecosand@yahoo.com

Lean condition. Clean the MAF sensor for starters, replace the fuel filter, make sure you have the right spark plugs and that they are gapped properly, and clean the intake/injection system and use a product to de-carbon the combustion chambers. This should help reduce or eliminate the pinging.
