I took it to a shop to have them look at the hard start issue and they couldn't get it started so they never had a chance to get to the alt or the 4wd issue. All they could tell me was that the FICM was dead. My guess is a vacuum actuator.
From what I've read on here and on ficmrepair, com the 6.0l is very sensitive to voltage and with either a alternator or battery's not at 100% condition you run the chance of killing your FICM. Read ficmrepain.com FAQ section and they have a lot of great information.
After I send out my FICM I'll be getting my alternator replaced then starting on fixing the 4wd part.

What maintenance can I do to prevent my head bolts from stretching?

Let the truck get to a ECT of 150* or higher before you get on it Hard
Dont run a Tuner without ARP Studs (some do run custom tune for a NONStudded trucks havent heard any problems here) so dont throw any off the shelf tunners at it SCT ONLY IMO
Keep your turbo Clean or address the veins if they stick overBoost will lift heads/stretch the bolts anything above 28psi Boost is pushing it Get some Gauges to keep an eye on it
Keep an Eye on your oil cooler/egr cooler if the egr cooler Bursts and coolant goes into the cylinders the cylinder Pressures SKYROCKET thus stretch bolts/lift heads so AgAIN GET SOME GAUGES if you dont already

So let me ask you this
Do you run out and trade in your Auto everytime it Breaks down.
ALL AUTO ANY MANUFACTURE will break down at one point or another
Just seems Like that would be the MOST EXPENSIVE Route to Go IMO
But I will Give you a little slack in return here being that ANY AUTO/MAKE has GOOD/BAD Ones. And By ALL Means if you Got a BAD ONE I DONT Blame you at ALL for Getting rid of it Hell I would dump it to.
But Its Not RIGHT that you get on here and Basicaly SAY that there ALL a POS cuz that IS NOT the Case
gee i haven't had any real issues with my 05 so there is at least ONE 05 that isn't a POS. pretty amazing really, they built how many 6.0's in 05 and based on your personal experience of what 5 maybe 10 the other 350,000 units are all junk. GTFO all you do is prove just how stupid you really are. 110,000 miles one egr cooler and oil cooler around 60k IIRC FICM just before warranty ended( I knew what symptoms to tell the dealer I was seeing (: ) it didn't act real bad, but when they tested it it didn't pass. without the knowledge from the site I would have run it til the FICM failed on my dime.
