Never heard of a "gold" edition. Do you have an emblem or paperwork indicating that this is indeed a "gold" edition? Sometimes, dealers added on to pad the profit.
That would be some kind of dealer package, local dealers will a lot of times get with local customizers, even if it's just for stickerzz and call it a special package to bump the price up.
I've heard of the Gold Edition on the 98's...that was considered the 50 year anniversary edditon....not on the 86's though.
My guess would be a special package similar to the what they offer on the new trucks as the "platinum edition". Lots of bling and badges I think. These are factory optons, maybe the Gold on the 80's was a dealer upgrade.
...maybe the Gold on the 80's was a dealer upgrade.
My exact supposition.
Look at the Illustration Section, Pages 1 & 2 of Section F 1980/86 Exterior Moulding section down at the bottom, you can see all the logos & insignias used from the factory.
There is no such thing as a "Gold Edition" emblem from the factory.
As was stated, dealers & regions sometimes created their own trim levels & dealer-added options, then gave it a locally-conjured-up badge & name (and price tag).
