ive been having some trouble with my hood here lately. it wont shut all the way. like it will latch but if i press down on it it pops up just a tad bit and i can open it up. like the latch is catching barely but the lock isnt all the way. also it wont stay aligned. ive tried aligning it a few times and it keeps moving on me. i aligned it tonight and tried to shut the hood and when i did i checked it again and it was right back out of align. i tightened the bolts down good and shook it alittle bit and it moved still. my question is what wears out on the lock dow part of the hood to keep it aligned? can i just buy the new brackets for it or is it the threads in the hood that gets warn?
If its the hinge mount bolts that won't tighten, those threads in the hood are just snap in inserts. If you take the hood off, you can take those inserts out with a pocket knife or a tiny screwdriver, anything that can pry up the little round tab.
As for the latch, you can adjust it by loosening the mounting bolts. Once you get the hood re-threaded and properly aligned, I'd take the time to get the latch exactly where it needs to be with trial and error. Other than that, just spray down the latch with WD40 and good luck!
