Intresting coil picture

I had a bad coil recently and took this picture. It's hard to tell from the pic but it's actually swollen. This is one of the original coils from the truck so it's 12 years old.

Almost looks like moisture got in there some how froze and expanded.

Most of the time when a electrical coil shorts it will expand and break the case if it's sealed if it's not sealed then it just goes up in smoke. The term we used in the electrical field is the Smoke Got Out
