front / back winch?
Anyone have a winch mounted on a trailer hitch and a front bumper with a hitch receiver?
I had this idea (may not be new, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet) to be able to self recover in almost any stuck situation.

Remember that class IV/V hitches are rated for 8000/10000lbs in a straight line directly behind the receiver tube. They are not meant for the slightest amout of sideloading that will most always occur when pulling yourself or others out. You will also lose the ability to use a shackle block to double ypur line pull.

Youve got bi gass bumpers with integrated receiver mounts, Tom. It doesnt appear this guy is asking about that. Stock/factory/aftermarket/bolt-on receiver hitches are not intended for this purpose or the sideloading that will most certainly result from any off center pull. The side plates are 1/4", 5/16" at best
