Of course, if and when I ever get some wear that indicates a problem, then I will address the alignment. I dont think my truck is much different than any of yours. I prob have the same amount of cold starts (maybe a little less). I think most of the wear comes from that. I have been known to only shut the truck off when its time to change the oil tho (when Im working that is). What sux is, I think im hearing my infamous chirp again. some of you might remember the thread I posted about it. Im gonna bump it with a video maybe tomorrow. I might be calling blackstone sooner than later. I have been pointed into the direction of the lifter needle bearings. bad freaking deal.
Lifter needle bearings causing your chirp?

I hope its not lifter bearings. I'm gonna pull the belt today and run it to rule it out. I might just pull the engine and replace them. Kinda big deal. Wonder if I lose my miles if I just get the rebuild kit and do the rings and bearings? I'm kinda proud of the miles and the fact that its the original equipment. But it is a gamble to do it too early, or too late and risk a couple thousand tow bill to get it home. I haul campers and get all over the country and in canada. I have never torn down the 6l below the
pistons. I remember the first time I needed to get the intake off and getting intimidated when I saw all those studs and bolts and being concerned with getting everything back together.... That's my feeling about tearing down the lower end. I eventually overcame it and I'm glad I did. There is extreme piece of mind to be going down the road, almost daring something to break. I ride with an extra injector, crank and cam sensors, cac boot and clamps, baro sensor, speed sensor, alternator, I think that's the extent of my parts store. Btw, motorcraft 1540 motorcraft oil n air filter, racor fuel filters, 5k on oil, 10k on fuel filters (i actually ate the first change to get it on the 5k n 10k increments on the odo (ex, 475000, 480000, 485000, ect). Its very hard to lose track of when it needs changed that way. I have changed my oil in rest areas, walmart parking lot, truck stops, wherever the odo tells me to. Actually, if I didn't use the truck directly, I can't say that my maintenance would be as diligent. I mean, there is no way I would be thinking of pulling the engine because of a chirp in my in town daily driver. You guys are the ones that are actually working the trucks, imagine how long your truck would last if you left it running when you get to work, and at night. virtually eliminating cold starts. My truck prob only has about 100k miles worth of cold starts. I've let it run for as much as 10 days without shutting off the key. Freakin crazy huh.

That is crazy, but it validates my theory that the less times you start an engine, the better. I had a debate with someone on here about that topic a while back.

Also, I'm surprised that your tires last so long with so much highway driving. I would think the heat would wear them down faster.

I think its the lack of turning left or right. I'm normally rolling straight and going so slow.

I guess I am in you class as far as tires go.
Any thing I have owned I have gotten very
good tire life out of. For that matter so did my Father.
If the tire was rated at 50K I would get 80K to 100K miles.
This truck I have got new tires on it just before I purchased
it @ 143K miles. So I'll report how they do.
Keep up you progran and I bet you will see many more miles out it your truck
