started gathering up the front of the engine stuff last nite... found most of the bracketry... and got it all sand blasted today...
the ps pump was still mounted to it's bracket and the only way to separate it is to remove the 6" pulley... tried a puller, hammer, cursing, hammer again.. puller and impact wrench... that sucker is on there...
I"m assuming it's a press on fit and not threaded... what's the magic incantation I need... turn ****, strike spark... adjust flame ???
also this pump seems to have seen better days... suggestions for alternates that are compatible with MII rack will be appreciated...
Im afraid to say you will have to go to Napa and buy the real puller which
will take it off and put it back on again. They are not that expensive and
will work on all pressed pulley pumps,, I dont know about foreign stuff.

HEAT! Heat the hub at the front surface (ridge where puller hooks behind) quickly, to a couple hundred degrees. They virtually drop off. Same for install, they slide on like they're greased. After sliding it on, cool it with some water so the seal doesn't get overheated.
If you have the old Ford PS pump, the kind that groans and growls at low speeds, I'd swap it for a newer one (post-'96 I believe). After What? 20 years?! they finally figured out how to get rid of that annoying noise.
Ditto on the pullers being cheap enough to buy.
Either that or you have to be sneaky and take the pump into the store, ask to see the puller to see if it will work on your pulley, pull the pulley off while the counter guy mutters, stutters, and stammers, then tell him, wow, works great but I guess I don't need it anymore.....lol
Fabricating a pully pusher-back-on-er is easy enough
