And you won't unless you had the rev limiter turned up with your program. 3400 max.

That's not a bad weak link to pick. Much better than the valve or piston. As the others have asked, did it bend the pushrod too?

I'm thinking you need more than 910's at those rpm's.

The pushrods are fine

About 5 years ago I put in a set of Diesel Innovations chrome-moly pushrods and Competition Engineering 910 valve springs

I don't want to either Scott. I know its never even seen 3400 to find out. I didn't know that though. Thanks.

If you smacked the valve, did you bend it at all?

That is true.. They are cheap and easy. Probably why they are built so weak. A real roller rocker with a different, or even adjustable, ratio could alleviate that problem.... Of course, there would be no room to mount them and still clear the glow plugs.

Whats stiffer than the 910's?

Yea I know, a set of beehive springs would be nice. But I just turned 60 and with a bad back and arthritis in my hands there's no way I could lay on top of that engine for that long to do another set of springs. I took me about 4 hours to get it all put back together today and I'm sore.

Must not have bent a valve then if you have it back together already. Glad to hear you're up and running.

I've bent pushrods twice in the past and that's why I went with the chromemoly's the last time. I knew by the huffing sound thru the intake that it was something in the valve train but was afraid it had bent a valve or punctured the piston. Valve or piston would have been a bitch to fix because I'd have to jack up the cab just to get the headstuds out and then still have to deal with pulling the head.

I have 2 programs on the chip that have no rev limiter and I've been wanting to try some PHP tunes, this looks like a good reason to get them done.

Wow, sounds like a bad back and arthritis in your hands in a minor inconvience to the major stuff that your doing!

Wide Open Performance sells/makes cyro treated rockers for the psd.

Something like this???? Pictures courtesy of Jason Hoffman.

Adjustable roller rockers are available through Wipe Out Enterprises for us. From what I understand, part of the assembly is built by Harland Sharp and Wipe Out finishes them up to work for us. Probably not really practical for a daily driver since they probably need to have lash adjusted more often than most would really want to deal with on a DD and they are pricey. Coming in around $1400-1600 IIRC, but come with chromoly pushrods
