94 Seedo Calibration

Is there a proven method of calibrating these speedometers without going to the dealership? I have added bigger tires and want to know I am running accurately as I like to push the limits of when the cops will stop you.

Just had to search speedometer calibration....

This worked good for me and the speedo reads correct with the 33" tires now

Be aware the procedure referenced above has one minor correction. The reference to a different conversion constant reasoning for 15" and 16" rims is incorrect. The reference to 16" rims implies the truck is a 3/4 ton or larger which uses the Sterling 10.25 rear axle. The Sterling uses a 120 tooth tone ring. The F150, which has a 8.8" rear axle, uses a 108 tooth tone ring.

That is the reason for two different conversion constants.

Just to make sure I am interpreting this correctly. I have a 1994 F150 XL 2 wheel drive with an E40D. My tires are Kuhmos and are 31x10.50 15R's, I changed it to 914. Is that the way you guys read that. I'm sorry in advance if this is a stupid question.

You got it. 914 should correct for the 31" tires

Went ahead and did it last night and all went perfectly. Caught a buddy on the way to work this morning and all appears to be good. We were able to check it at some slower speeds though not extremely accurate in traffic it seems to be WAY closer than it was and the good news is I have 4 tries left.

Out of curiosity does anyone know why Ford limits you to 6 calibrations? I mean it seems to be plenty but what freaking skin is it off their noses if we recal it a hundred times?
