A buddy of mine bought a 1984 Ford school bus to make a cheap RV. It has a 370 V8 4-barrel in it, and needs to do some work to it. Unfortunately, we know nothing about these engines.
Is it part of the 460 family?? FE?? It's from the 80's, so we have no idea. What engine family and what parts are interchangeable with other motors?
He is looking for potentially heads, exhaust manifolds, and a compatible oilpan. His is a 9-quart pan, and is a bit rusty.
A 1984 vehicle wouldn't have come with an FE in it. Doubt they'd have put an FT in it either (similar to the FE's). A little past their time for Ford. I'd suspect it would be based off the 385 series, but I can't say for sure.
Yah, it's an industial Lima motor. 429/460 family, I'm not sure of interchangability. Check the 429/460 forum, do some searches, I'm sure you'll find what you need.
Yep thats a 385 industrial, noted by the Ford Industrial sticker on the valve cover. This motor was used in lots o buses and medium tractors, it is completely interchangeable with the rest of the 385 family and 335 family. Its pretty low revving so its probably better for truck pulls and stuff.
