I have a new to me 2000 f-250 with the 5.4 V8. Noticed coolant leaking at the crossover on the intake manifold leading to my coil packs misfiring due to the coolant pooling into where the plug sits on the head. Researched and figured out how to fix thanks to this site!! Any extra tips forthe repair would be awesome as well!
But while doing all this investigating online and on my truck when I removed the air intake tube to the throttle body to remove some coil packs on the drivers side I noticed the throttle body and intake hose from the valve cover was covered in oil. What could cause this. My truck doesn't burn oil blow smoke or run hot. I know it's not normal but if that valve is clogged on the valve cover would it cause the blowing of oil into the intake?!
The oil gunk inside of the intake is from the PVC. It is normal. The vapors accumulate and eventually leave you with that junk. On my old 5.0L, I emptied a spray can of carb cleaner into the intake manifold, every vacuum fitting and into the PVC fitting while the engine was running at a high idle to clean it out.
