5.4 motor, 4.30 gears, maybe want to run 35's?

i need new tires on my 2004 F350 soon, im running 285/75R16 now and in no way am i putting that size back on again. I found a set of 255/85R16 BFG mud terrian KM2 for $750.00, now i dont tow to max anymore but i do tow a 20ft CC boat on a dual axle trailer, i do still have my 16ft trailer that i load up with mulch, topsoil, cut food, etc through the year. But since my truck is leveled and has the room for a set of 35 inch tires i was wondering how it would do turning the 35's with 4.30 gears? What will my ratio be with the 35's? Back to 3.73 or lower like 3.55? Also im getting around 12mpg around town how do you's think ill do IF i go to 35's afterwards? Thanks

A leveling kit doesn't clear 35s all that well, especially if you flex it a little. I think you'd be a lot happier sticking with 33s with a 5.4L and 4.30s. Really, a 5.4L should have 4.30s stock and with 35s I'd lean towards 4.56 or 4.88.

I have an 03 F250 with a 3" lift and 315 Toyo MT's which when new measured out at 35.2" tall. The only time I rub is when I am at full turn in the front an I think a small triangle cut on the bumper would solve it. I also the 5.4 with the 3.73 ratio. I am saving up for the 4.30's. The jump in tire size really....really made a difference in the power department at take off an in the mpg area. Right now I get 9.5 or at best 10mpg.

the only time I rub with my 35s is at a full left turn, and it just rubs on the plastic wheel well liner.. I guess it all depends on your wheel tire combo..

maybe its a typo, but a 255/85R16 its only a 33x10 tire?? And your 285/75R16 is a 33x11 tire, so really your looking at just getting a narrower tire, not a larger diameter one?

for some reason the 255/85r16 KM2 is 33.7 inches tall from BFG website, and from other sites that had these tires listed. My BFG All terrain's i have now are 285/75r16 are 32.4 inches, but yes i want just a slightly taller tire but i want it closer to stock width which the 255 will give me. Just wanted to see how bad my 5.4 would do with 35's even though i have 4.30 gears.

my new pro comp springs flex wwaayy better than the stock ones could ever dream about, i can completely stuff one front tire and the opposite rear tires now and my 285's just clear and have about 3/4" of clearance between them and the front inner liner?

Not trying ti be an ****, but so is a 20 ft boat. I have one myself with I/O engine, pulls just fine with 33's and 4:10's. But, i do have a single axle trailer. maybe that is a difference?

What I'm saying is pretty much any configuration of Superdudy can pull 5-6k, so there's no reason to question or debate it. In fact, a f150 could handle it fine. And given the same weight on the trailer and tongue, axle count makes no difference in how the truck handles it, except a tandem trailer may have more braking ability.

You shouldn't have any trouble with a 33 unless they are ridiculously wide or have high negative offset wheels that stick out really far. When I got my '03 it had 315/75r16s (35x12) on it at stock height with -6mm offset wheels and they didn't rub.
