Headers Installed

I got my headers installed on my 81. Not a bad job, sure was dirty though.

I`m glad it wasn`t a bad job, I`ve heard that headers are usually very hard and time consuming to install.
I`m thinking of a set for my 69 F100/390, what brand and how much were these?

I put a set of Hooker Headers on the '81 F150 I had. Wasn't a terrible job, but hard on the ribcage leaning over the truck.

The old headers where a little tough because about half the bolts you had to use a wrench to get to them but the new headers I could use my rachet on all but one of the bolts. The headers I got were Hedman and they were $290 + taxes. As for the rib cage I have a two step step ladder that made reaching in real nice.

Looks good. I always heard toughest thing with headers is when you have to replace starter

Sounds like headers have come a long way for ease of installation compared to before.

Nice thing to look for in headers is to get a thicker set

I`ve heard that thin headers will sometimes warp and often burn out way too quick.

They also heat up and cool down way to fast usually causing gaskets to fail

eBay has headers for quite affordable, but I wonder if that means quality....thickness is compromised.

Yes you would have to take the header off to replace the starter but it would not be that hard. There is lots of room on the passenger side. I dont know about thickness but it will be alot easier to take these off if I have to than the other ones that were on the truck.

There could problems with the headers fitting, so I`d sooner buy them from a business locally, have a face to ask questions and not have the hassle of poor fit or return shipping costs.

Most ebay purchases are pretty protected now. I wouldnt worry about buying stuff from ebay, but Id of course research it first.

Local business's dont really get much of my business, as Im all about the mighty dollar, and the more I save, the better.

I find online shopping much much better for value, ease, and quality, as long as ya do a little homework.

It swings both ways I guess, as long as I get good and prompt service, a bang for my buck I shop locally first tho I have had some ok deals on Youpay.
