I just bought a 2010 F150 automatic and need some help. I am going to try to explain this as best I can.
When I take off from a stop my truck jerks once and then is fine. It makes this jerk before it shifts into 2nd.
The best way I can describe it is when you are towing something and take off from a dead stop and the load shifts. That sudden one time jerk is what I am getting all the time.
Does anyone know where I can start looking or checking or has anyone else had this problem?
Check out TSB 10-22-6, see if this fits the discription of your symptom. There is a build date cut off, however I have seen this TSB correct a concern even after this cutoff date.
IS this as easy as taking the truck to a fold dealership and asking them to check out TSB's for my truck? I am new to this world so please bear with me.
I bought the truck off ebay from a BMW dealership in NJ. I live in cicninnati OH so I would have to find a local dealership I trust.
I am not sure I fully understand how these TSB's work. Is this the same as a recall and the dealerships do this for free or is this going to cost me money from the dealership?
If there is any warranty (3 yr/36k miles) left on the vehicle (or if you purchased an ESP) and the TSB applies, then the dealer should perform the TSB for free. If there isn't any warranty left, then you might have to pay to have the TSB work performed.
However, the safest way to get a TSB done is to accurately describe (and demonstrate) the TSB symptoms. If you simply walk-in and tell the dealer SM "I want TSB XX done, you might get refused."
This sounds like the "slip yoke" bump issue that has been going around here for a while. There is a TSB and it requires the dealer to clean and repack the spline on the slip yoke. One fella here is getting anew driveshaft.
A dealer tech will have to drive it but they should know exactly what the issue is right away. This is a driveline issue and should be covered for 5yr / 60K miles.

^^What they said. The tech needs to drive it and have it happen while he's in the truck. If it doesn't happen during his joyride, they won't do anything.
Thanks everyone! I went to the dealership and bought all the parts. Going to do the work myself this saturday.
I don't know what it is but I like doing the work myself on these small jobs. At least this way I know nothing was over looked.
I will let everyone know if this fixed my issue!
Just curious as to what parts you bought exactly? I don't have the issue but for my general information is all. It wasn't as easy as removing the slip yoke and re-packing it with grease? Thats all I did on my SD
The only item I bought from Ford was the clap that you can find on TSB 10-22-6. I was able to reuse the boot and the upper clamp since I never removed these two. I personally went with Marine Grease and not the ford PTFE Just because I think it will handle the wear and tear better. (Really a personal preference)
So to sum it up, one clamp from Ford and Marine Grease for local auto store.

Did it work? I took my truck back twice initially, each time it was greased the bump/ slip in the yoke would come back after 1500-2000 miles. Third time I took the truck in they replaced my entire driveshaft. Truck now feels and drives better than it did with 20 miles on it. Let us know how you're truck turns out
